The Cottage

Set on the edge of the beautiful River Dart, the RDYC Cottage provides a comfortable and picturesque place to stay within easy reach of Dartmouth. An added advantage to staying in this cottage is the exclusive temporary membership of the Royal Dart Yacht Club, which enables you to enjoy a sundowner on the wonderful waterfront terrace in the evening sunshine and perhaps even an evening meal when you don’t feel like cooking for yourself from the superb in-house Club chef.
Entering through the private passageway will bring you to the front door; step down into the kitchen and walk through into the light and bright sitting room. Upstairs will bring you to a king-size double bedroom with an adjacent shower room. A second set of stairs lead up to a second-floor double room with a bathroom. Both rooms are delightfully furnished with comfortable beds, luxurious linen and soft fluffy towels and most importantly gorgeous glimpses of the river across the terrace!
We are able to accept one well-behaved dog for a small extra charge of £20 – please tell us when you make the booking.

Guest access

Please note there is NO parking at the cottage – free on-street parking is available close by, or a paid off-street carpark is just 2 2-minute walk away.

Other things to note

COVID-19: Our cottage will, of course, be clean and spotless before each arrival, and we will follow the guidance given by Airbnb about suitable sanitization measures to help protect our guests. To this end, we have to increase our cleaning fee to enable us to incorporate the gov guidelines into our already stringent cleaning routines. We will also have to ask guests to strip their own beds and place all used bedding into a linen sack prior to leaving the cottage, and remove all rubbish to the club bins.

Guests should note that the cottage overlooks the Terrace, which is open to members – we will adhere to the social distancing guidelines, so the number of people allowed will be limited. The bar will shut at 10 pm, but the Terrace will remain open for your use.

FROM 1st OCTOBER - Bar & Catering Opening Hours

Dogs: Whilst we do allow dogs to stay in the cottage, we must point out that they are not allowed in the clubhouse at any time. They are welcome on the club terrace provided they are kept on a lead and are well behaved.

The Quarter Deck

The RDYC Quarterdeck is a welcoming space with a stunning river view. It provides a comfortable environment for a traditional lunch or dinner for up to 60 people. It can also host a modern business meeting or lecture with all the latest audio/visual equipment and air conditioning to keep your delegates awake in the slot after lunch!

The Dining Room

The dining room is an ideal space for a slightly smaller gathering and offers an elegant venue for anything between 12 and 40 diners.

The Marquee and Terrace

Our open terrace is renowned as the best place on the River Dart for an al fresco event. Should the odd shower threaten, retreating into the marquee allows the occasion to continue with sparkle.

The terrace and marquee can be booked for outside events, subject to availability, from September to May only.

The Royal Dart Yacht Club has a number of unique spaces available for hire, and we are always happy to discuss your unique requirements.

The RDYC cottage is part of the yacht club – on occasions, there will be members outside on the terrace. By staying as a guest, you will be granted temporary membership of the club, which enables you to use the clubhouse facilities such as the bar, terrace, and restaurant, and even watch the hotly contested racing each Wednesday night from April – September. We are an active Members' club with Junior Sailing happening on Saturday mornings, and racing on Friday nights, Saturday afternoons, as well as every Wednesday night. Boats are always coming & going, so there is always something to watch, it’s a yachtie heaven in Devon! We are now pleased to say we can offer temporary moorings to cottage guests if you arrive by boat, just ask for more details.
